Join the New England Grocery Earth Day Energy Challenge!

Manomet’s Grocery Stewardship Certification and New England’s grocery retailer associations are collaborating to host the New England GSC Earth Week Challenge, which will take place during the 50th Earth Day week, April 20-26. The challenge is designed to engage stores in celebrating Earth Day and reducing energy footprints through easy, quick operational actions.

This one week NO COST challenge will run from April 20th – 26th, 2020.

What benefits will New England grocery stores receive from participating in the GSC Earth Week Challenge?

  • Reduce costs and dramatically shrink your environmental footprint by involving your employees in sustainable operating.
  • Show your employees you care about the environment by engaging them in an effort to be more energy-efficient.
  • Celebrate Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary with clear, impactful actions!

The Steps

  1. To sign up your independent store or your grocery chain, contact Manomet’s Grocery Program Manager Catrina Damrell at gsc@manomet.org or 207-751-5082.
  2. Your store will receive an online participation checklist for your employees that highlights 5 no-cost daily operational practices that will help your store be more energy Complete as many tasks on the checklist each day to increase your engagement to help your store be a high performer!
  3. In April, Manomet will recognize the participating stores and highlight the resulting energy efficiency savings with calculated metrics and participation rates.
